The Award
Kings of Paradise has won a thing! (The IndieReader Discovery Award for fantasy)

Hurray! Now, how much this matters to book sales is anyone’s guess, but there’s not much question as an ‘indie’ you carry a certain aroma of poor quality, so every bit of evidence to the contrary helps.
The Update
Kings of Ash (Ash and Sand Book #2) is drafted and in the editing process now. The original goal was to publish in August, but I think this will be October (any delays really just for marketing reasons – bloggers/etc need time to read!).
Also I’ll (hopefully) be entering Kings of Paradise into Mark Lawrence’s 2018 Self-Published-Fantasy-Blog-Off (SPFBO) competition in July, which runs a full year and involves 10 bloggers as judges, and 300 indie books competing for the top-spot. Details here. http://mark—lawrence.blogspot.com/2018/05/call-for-review-site-singular-for-spfbo.html
At least two past winners/finalists have gone on to publishing deals, including Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft, The Grey Bastards by Jonathan French, and probably a few others I’m missing. In any case this competition has become a fairly big deal, and a very exciting thing to maybe be a part of. Winning (or close) would also include the personal, non-success-exactly oriented goal of having Mark Lawrence maybe read my book. That is all I have to say about that.
Till next time…
